Ian is a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners and was a GP Principal for 37 years. He was a member of Newcastle LMC for 33 years until 2008 and Chairman of Newcastle & North Tyneside LMC from 1992 until 2000.  He was Chairman of the North East Regional General Practitioners’ Committee from 1998 to 2006.

Ian became a Trustee of the Cameron Fund in 2010 and has been a member of the Finance & Investment Committee since 2012. He was elected Deputy Treasurer in 2014.
