The cost of travel to school, after-school clubs and similar extra-curricular activities and school uniform are considered as essential expenditure for the purposes of assessing an applicant’s outgoings.  Often a grant is awarded to include these items.

In certain circumstances, the Fund will make a contribution to school fees.  We assist with the cost of private education during an examination year or for a short period before a child joins or re-enters the State system.

For the sons and daughters of existing beneficiaries, we have a specific scheme to contribute to living costs for those taking a first degree course or undertaking vocational training after secondary education.
